They say that when you buy something from a small business, an actual person does a little happy dance. Being a small business owner myself, I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. When I receive an order for PB nail wraps, I definitely happy dance, knowing that our gorg nail wraps are about to make someone’s day and my dream of making babes feel good is a reality. Side note: nail wraps make ideal stocking stuffers.

With the pandemic and economic shut down this year, small businesses need more support than ever. And the holiday season is the perfect time to spread the love and boost the happy dances! Also, the packaging and thoughtfulness from a small business will always outshine a large corporation. It’s a win win.

So, here are 5 of my favorites I will be shopping from for this holiday season and beyond:

TARIN THOMAS

Tarin Thomas was started in New York City in 2013 by Kylie Nakao. Love a small woman owned biz! Her jewelry line explores the contrast between masculine and feminine, delicate and bold, and modern and traditional. I’m obsessed with the Bleecker Necklace and Bleecker Bracelet shown below, but truly this shop has something for everyone. If you’re an NYC local, you can visit the storefront in the West Village.

Bleecker Necklace, $128

Bleecker Bracelet, $68

LEIF

Leif is a lifestyle shop founded by Stacy Longnecker in 2011. What started as an online shop has expanded into a brick & mortar store located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. From home goods to jewelry, Leif is always fresh, inviting, and a little surprising. Not only do these Sign Language Candles smell incredible, but they will add to your giftee’s home as artsy (and cheeky) decor.

Sign Language Candle, $22

DESIGNER’S COLLAB

Designer’s Collab is a new retail experience dedicated to promoting emerging and established artisan brands from around the globe, with an emphasis on sustainability. You can find their flagship store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My holiday gift must-have is their Clarify Facial Oil. Cruelty free, smells like a dream, and is made to clear pores and calm acne flare ups. Nothing says “happy holidays--l adore you” like good skincare.

Clarify Facial Oil, $48

HOMECOMING

Homecoming was opened in 2013 and sells plants, flowers, ceramics, art, books & more. Located in both Williamsburg and Greenpoint, this cafe/store serves coffee from Heart Roasters, tea from Kettle and Bellocq, and pastries from local Brooklyn bakeries. With a wide array of unique ceramics, like this ANK Ceramic Sea Smoke Mug, Homecoming is a must for the coffee or tea lover in your life.

CATBIRD

Catbird is a shop that was started in 2004, solely selling jewelry. Now, Catbird has evolved into selling beauty, home, gifts, and more! Being the founder of PB means that owning chic hand accessories is a must for me. And their selection, including this Sweet Nothing Ring, is top notch. Imagine one of these paired with a bundle of PB nail wraps under the tree. Cue the heart eyes.
